It all started when…

Brown Girl Rise has always aimed to be youth-led. In order to work towards that goal, we created the Radical Organizing Workshop series, or ROWS. Through a carefully thought out training, lasting about 2 months, we gave youth the training they would need to be RADICAL ORGANIZERS and community leaders. We covered topics ranging from disability justice to safety and marketing. The original training culminated in a retreat at the Oregon Coast.

After the training was completed, youth had the opportunity to join our YOUTH BOARD. As members of the youth board, they have the opportunity to lead activities and assist in program planning. Through stipends, we were also able to provide financial compensation.
